Fulldome Festival Jena and Pre-Conference Trip
18 – 19 July 2024
It all begins where the projection planetarium was born: in Jena, Germany. Participants will see groundbreaking fulldome works, network with colleagues, and experience the culture and entertainment that Jena has to offer! The festivities start with a special »Best of the Jena FullDome Festival« held for IPS 2024 attendees at the Zeiss-Planetarium Jena. The FullDome Festival started back in 2007 and has become a leading international forum to showcase, discuss and award fulldome productions, ranging from classic astronomy films to avant garde 360° music and theatre shows. The special IPS-festival will feature a curated selection of recent entries from around the world that were submitted to the FullDome Festival. Excitement grows when on July 19 it will be announced who will win the prestigious JANUS-Awards, kind of the »Oscars« of the fulldome world. The ceremony around the shining JANUS-trophy will be streamed live from the Zeiss-Planetarium to the world.
