Presentation theme: fulldome
This workshop will introduce key aspects of space telescope image processing such as:
- exploring/accessing space telescope data: Participants will delve into the exploration and retrieval of space telescope data through the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST) Portal, providing hands-on experience in navigating these archives and a better understanding of observation programs.
- imagery processing: Learn essential techniques using common editing software to process raw data, correct instrumental effects, and enhance images for public viewing.
- image enhancement techniques: Dive into image enhancement methods designed to unveil hidden details, highlight features of interest, and craft visually compelling imagery. Participants will acquire skills to elevate the quality and impact of their visual presentations.
- planetarium presentation: Explore specialized processing techniques tailored for planetarium presentations, ensuring that processed imagery captivates and educates audiences.
Participants should bring their own laptops with them with NOIRLab's FITS Liberator software and Adobe Photoshop installed (Adobe offers a free trial period for Photoshop).
